Racing For The Cure

What a great experience to be able to do something for a good cause!! For the first I did a 5k for something worth running for. The Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure was a successful event! CrossFit Las Vegas decided to get together to race to "save the ta-tas". LoL!!

We got to downtown Las Vegas and there were just thousands of people. It was overwhelming to see how many people turned out for this event. I can't think of anyone I know that have suffered from breast cancer, but my great grandfather and grandfather both passed away from prostate cancer. I also have a dear friend of mine that is suffering through this disease today. As I stood there watching the cancer survivors walk down the sidewalk before the race started, thoughts raced through my mind of my great grandfather, grandfather, & dear friend and the sufferings they had/have to go through.

I told myself that I have never ran 5k straight and that I was going to run the whole way without stopping in honor of my loved ones & those survivors and victims of this disease. I felt my calves burning as I did the run, but I never did stop running. After finishing the race it was a great feeling to know that I helped out in a little way. I look forward to next year's run!!
